Here, the fields were ploughed by the stewards and farmers, aided by ox carts. The grapes were brought to the Quinta's lagar where they were crushed and the wine was then produced. Many of the old vines on the Quinta have been preserved and others have been restored. The water from the mines, which used to irrigate all the plantations in the past, is still used for the same purpose, allowing sustainability and environmental protection.\n\nCurrently, as an agro-tourism, Dajas Douro Valley has its main focus on the plantation of lemons through the organic production method and on sheep, through the protection of the Churras do Minho, a Portuguese sheep breed.\n\nSustainability, ecosystem protection and animal welfare are one of our concerns. So, we privilege organic materials in the plantations, good agricultural practices, and the natural feeding of the animals.
